The new Ikea PS range

IKEA launch a brand new set of fabulous products for their ‘luxury’ PS range each year and this year is no exception.

There is a cute range of side tables with a bamboo frame and white lacquered table top. There are three table top options including a 4-way planter, a bowl and a flat top.

In keeping with their new-found love of bamboo, there is a gorgeous new dining table too. Could it be the teak of 2012?

You might be surprised at my last choice, a pine chest of drawers! Despite my absolutely hatred of all things pine, I feel that this new chest of drawers is crying out to be hacked, painted and glossed.

See what I mean? I reckon is could take 3 or 4 lovely colours to bring it right up to date.

All these fabulous new items are available from May 1st, to get over to Ikea on Tuesday as I suspect that the new PS range will fly right out the door!

I constantly dream of living by the sea. I think it has something to do with spending virtually every summer weekend of my childhood somewhere in the vicinity of Hastings. Hastings is what you could call a shabby town, but I love it all the same. Whether it be popping into Reynards for the latest jokes (I think the Neapolitan Police parking ticket I put in my brother’s car was the best one by far), eating ice cream on the pebbly beach looking out to sea, or playing the 2p machines in the seaside arcades, there was always much fun to be had.

Sometime in the future, I really, really want to move to the south of France. Not the posh bit, but the simple bit down in the area surrounding Perpignan. I’ve bored my friends to tears about my dream plans, but hopefully I will make it down there some day. It’s the only place I can think of where it’s still affordable to live by the sea. Plus, the Languedoc region has a massive glut of wine. Over in the UK, we call it table wine. I’ve never been a wine snob, so I think it’s perfectly acceptable to spend €2.50 on a bottle of rose from the region to sup whilst reading a book, with the sounds of the sea in the background.

Anyway, dreams aside I’m here to talk about this nautical trend that we’ve got going on at present. There’s a lots of seaside themed products and interiors appearing on my radar of late and I absolutely love it. As with all trends though, you can go over the top, so be careful bringing the seaside into your home. Here’s a few examples of where the style has flourished.

Not sure how many of us could carry off a boat on the wall, but if I had the room I’d certainly love to try!

They do say that you can find a face in everything if you look hard enough but it seems that 56th Studio have made it abundantly clear for us.

Vote for the next Lego Architecture model!

I’ve always had a bit of a Lego obsession. In fact, my love of Lego is so well-known, my parents refuse to give away my Lego collection which is still stored in their loft, much to the dismay of my niece and nephew.

I am yet to invest in any of Lego’s Architectural range, but that doesn’t stop me dreaming about it!

Lego are giving all of us the chance to vote on which architectural landmark should be added to their range. We are very lucky to live in a country full of history. With that history comes a great deal of antiques and vintage items (officially under 100 years old) that we can spend our lives trawling the backstreets for. I’m a bit of a mid century modern obsessive but when I was at Interiors UK, I fell in love with a whole new style. It is reminiscent of British colonial armies as well as French artisan stores and workshops.

It’s a tad controversial but Authentic Models produce a beautiful range of products that look and feel antique. I can see some of you hanging your heads in your hands, but having been up close with their furniture, I can see that it would be simply gorgeous in the right setting.

When I win the lottery, I’m going to buy a lovely, big, solid dining table from Fusion Tables. Not only is it a dining table, it’s a pool table! Nothing new here I know, but I couldn’t resist after seeing them at Interiors UK.

I have never been a girly girl and I never will, so I was delighted when I got to see the lovely printwork of Camilla Meijer at Interiors UK. Her designs are very floral, without being ridiculously girly. She’s got a great range of wallpapers, tea towels, bags and cushions (my personal favourite).

JAILmake is a design studio based in South London and you could say that they’ve got a bit of a thing for steel..

They make some beautiful pieces but my favourites have to be the Plantable (plants in a table!) and Jimmy Fiction (gigantic letters).
